A Photo Of Every Plant Everywhere, Ever!
As keen plantspeople with a nursery we are always looking for different plants. Over the 30+ years since Lesley & Ron
started the nursery we have grown around 10,000 different taxa (types of plant) both for sale & in our garden. When we
go somewhere we usually mange to fit in some plant spotting either in a garden or the greater pleasure of seeing
ornamental plants growing in the wild, though this often comes with the OCD frustration of not being able to put a name
to a plant, grrrrrrr.
Freed of the expense & space restrictions of slides & prints by digital cameras we now snap a photo of nearly every
plant that passes through our nursery, we have so far photographed about 4,000 taxa & are uploading the in-focus ones
to the photo sharing site Flickr for the whole world to see. As we upload the photos we take a note of it’s URL, e.g.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gcnursery/5908715837/ & link it to the record for that taxon in our database so we can find
it again, in time we hope to organise them into set & collections based on cultural preferences, seasons of interest, etc.
The PDF catalogue of our Flickr plant images can be found here.
Our Flickr Photostream - See the 4000+ photos we’ve uploaded, from here you can filter them down into sets or search
all Rhododendron photos, etc.
