We are a family-run retail plant nursery.
We have been growing & selling an extremely wide selection of plants here since 1979.
Sited near Poolewe in Wester Ross, in the North West Highlands of Scotland and 2kms north of the world renowned Inverewe Gardens.
Our stock reflects the prevailing conditions here, with lots of salty wind, high rainfall & fairly mild but long winters, as well as lots of poor, shallow, highly acidic peaty soils.
Over the years we have built up a large selection of Asiatic Primulas, particularly the popular ‘Candelabra’ types as well as many other plants for the damp or bog garden.
We specialise in plants that will thrive in a coastal garden, with a broad range of tough coastal plants which would be equally happy, if not happier on St Kilda than in St Albans.
Amongst these we have many Brachyglottis, Hebe, Olearia & Ozothamnus. We offer more varieties than anyone else of Olearia, a rather neglected genus of great variety and utility. We also offer much else besides which is rare and unusual as well as some of the more run-of-the-mill old favourites.
Our nursery is located in a beautiful part of the country and itself is in a lovely sheltered setting with the sales frames arranged around the garden. We have alpines, bulbs, ferns, grasses, heathers, herbs, perennials, shrubs, trees & bedding plants in season.
When the midges are too bad or the rain too heavy you can take shelter in Ron’s Second Hand Bookshop.
We are open from Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 6pm from
