This list represents the majority of plants that we
have on sale at the moment, 815 different plants are listed here. The plants on
sale change continually as new plants become ready for sale and others are
sold-out. As we haven't the time to up-date the list every day it soon becomes
rather out-of-date. So if you are unable to see the plant or plants you wanted
below please contact us, we grow over 2000 different plants and may well have
what you are looking for.
Plants cannot be sent and must be bought at and
collected from the nursery. We
do publish a mail order catalogue in mid-late September and our mail order
service operates from then until March. To reserve a copy e-mail us giving us your postal address.
If you are planning on visiting the nursery for our Directions page may be helpful.
Plants on the list are sorted into broad categories
(Alpines, Bulbs, Climbers, Conifers Ferns, Grasses, Herbs, House Plants,
Perennials and Trees & Shrubs), then by botanical name. Any bedding plants,
fruit or veg plants & heathers that we have are not listed as well as
anything that there are only one or two of.
The
'HZ' column is the plants estimated USDA Plant Hardiness Rating, the LOWER the
number the more FROST hardy the plant is. Avoid plants rated 9 if you live well
inland. 8 - 7 and lower are fine for most and the coldest parts of Scotland
such as Braemar, are just into zone 6 so select only plants rated at the level
for your area or less to avoid too many winter losses. To see a Hardiness Zones Map for the
UK Click Here
The Salt Tolerance column is a rating from 0 to 3
symbols ( Þ ) of the plants tolerance to exposure to salt-laden winds. No symbol is
not good for coastal gardens without shelter. Þ is generally good but needs some shelter on
very exposed coasts. ÞÞ is very tough
and will thrive in all but the most exposed places. ÞÞÞ is reserved for only the very
toughest, rarely burns at all.
The cup (%) represents a
plant that has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
